A good book for those wanting to “pioneer” in the sense of digging their own clay, making their own kiln bricks, etc. — or for those who simply want to know more about the basic materials involved. Also some beautiful African pots included in the photographs. There’s lots of information on geology for potters — if the first few chapters are too technical, skip to the 7th, “Making Pots,” for some interesting techniques.
